SSS Chapter IV: Wanna Travel?

 The battle had lasted for at least an hour, resulting in Rupert lying on his back, panting, Humerus still in fighting position, badly wounded and his eyes a dangerous red, then the girl struggling to stay up.
 "You… you were good," the girl said. "My name's Shade."
 Humerus glared at her, then replied, "Humerus."
 "Rupert…" Rupert moaned, limply lifting up his hand.
 Shade nodded, then slowly sat down.
 Humerus smiled, looking up at the sky. It was surprisingly blue, like the tropical ocean that he had seen on a postcard. He fell back onto the soft, chalky earth, staring at the clear blue.
 Shade looked over to him, then said, "I've never been here…" She looked up at the sky. "I've never been anywhere, really… I'm someone's shadow… meant to bring them all their worst fears… I'm them… but… darker…"
 Rupert sat up, his eyes downcast. "I lost my pack today… we were supposed to go all the way to Lookout Creek…" He looked up at Humerus, tears in his golden eyes. "C-Can you t-take me…? I have no one left… I want to travel again… please… will you take me…?"
 Shade sat up and looked at Humerus. "The kid's gotta point. I don't want to be a shadow… I want to be my own person…"
 Humerus closed his eyes, then sighed, "That would be awesome… getting away from that horrid city with that horrid gang." He sat up and looked at Rupert and Shade. He smiled and said, "Let's do it!"
